[Mk2] [Turbo] Car reving between 2 and 3k on idle!

For some unknown reason my 2 has just started reving between 2k and 3k on idle, sometimes it goes back to the normal aorund 1k but then starts going up again!

Any ideas?

I thought it may be the throttle cable sticking, I checked it and it appeared to be ok but didnt really know what I was looking for.

Maybe pedal? Or the 02 sensor giving incorrect signal or something so thinks its cold when its not?

I checked the ecu and no error codes either...

it was the throttle body sticking in my NA, worked fine after some WD40 applied; in the turbo the TPS perhaps ?

Where do you squirt the WD40? Around the throttle cable area?

you probably have an air leak.

check all vacuum hoses

It basically just revs around 2k when idle, sometimes going up to 2.5 to 3k. Its as if the pedal or throttle cable may be sticking, since if I pull the pedal up with my foot, the revs drop slightly until I release it again. The same with the throttle cable, if I pull towards rear of car, revs drop until I release the cable again. Its as if the cable is too tight now? Maybe needs loosening off?
