Turbo oil filters are longer. As far as I know the NA filters fit Tubbys but they deffinatly are different.

hey Chris.

As mentioned the tubby has a different filter ti that found on the N/A. Althugh teir are two different serial numbers for the turbo verient, i'm led to believe by Toyota them selves that they are however the same, ie will fit all revisions

As for oil choice. I was using Mobile 1 15w50, but it was brought to my attention that the first number of 15 is a little high for this time of year. This leads to extended warming up times hich in turn allows more wear on the engine during this period! I'm now using Silkolene 10w50. I've noticed that my engine now reaches running temps a lot quicker now and also seems to rev with less effort. Highly recommended

Interestingly the same oil filter will fit all 4AGEs too.

The longer one is the one you want ideally. This is what i used to use on my SC, though its had the shorter one too with no problems.

I just picked one up this afternoon from MrT for my 86NA was £8.23 all in. Don't forget the sump plug washer when you get the filter.

No problem Chris.

Try this place for you oil needs (01209-215-164) and ask to speek to a chap called Guy. He knows more about oil than anyone i've ever meet and is a real nice guy (no pun) to boot! lol

Have you got a foreign keyboard or something?

Yes, an NA filter will 'fit' on a turbo engine, but I'd get the one specifically for the turbo. And Toyota should stock these too as the 3S-GTE engine was found in the UK Celica GT-4.

The turbo filter has a bypass valve in case the filter should become blocked.
