Dad's 60th Prezzy

Hi

Thought this might be a good place to ask for some advice on my dads 60th brithday present, he has always been in to car's and bike's but due to my mum and having kids he stopped having fun and to buy a family car. He has asked me and my brother to get him a track day. I have been looking at the common places like "Red Letter Days " ect but I spoken to a few people I know and they didnt rate them much as the time in the car was a bit short.

So my question can any one know of or been on a track day experiance that was worth it??? As for cars he wants to drive... well any thing other than an 1.8.. porche m3 ect really!

Any idears guys?

Hire a batcat (caterham superlight) through bookatrack.com

Have driven them a fair few times on various circuits in the UK and Europe. Highly recommended as just turn up and drive basically. Free instruction IIRC and tyres and fuel etc all included.

Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. This is far preferable to those red letter type days where you don't get much track time and ultimately your driving is restricted by rev limits and the like.

Not much beats the raw feel of a caterham and they are great fun to drive and not all that tricky to get the hang of. Loads of tracktime and you can both do it together.

If you are on tight budget then this looks pretty good value - 4 cars and a fast lap for £99. Just booked it for my Dad's 64th!
