[Mk2] [Turbo] super advan 17" fitment?

Post by T.F.S. »

hi

im looking for larger rubber for the rears....my search has led me to these...

im asking the guy for the offset at the moment but has anyone got these on their 2 so i can confirm they will actually fit under the arches?, these were origianlly from a skyline GTR and presumed they would fit ok?

super advan 3 spokes in 17x9.5j 114.3 fitted with 245 and 265 falken 452s

i just sold a set of these, the front had a 8j with 215 tyre (dotn ask they had swapped the front rear wheels over with the wider tyres on the rear - tyre place willy up i guess) with the 8j / 215 40 17 combo on the front it was desperately close to the strut

Dependso on the offset

http://mr2.gordaen.com/wt_calc.php

Suspect with a 9.5 you'll need to roll the arches

well it turns out they are offset 22....hanging out the arches eh

so its like this...i need larger rubber on the rear, +300bhp/lbft and im sliding sideways under full throttle, scares the xxxx out of me TBH

is there a cheap way to do this?, what offet and J size will i need for a nice fitment with no scraping when turning etc?

If it was me I'd aim for either

17x8/9 ET35 with a 215/40 and 245/40

or 16x7/8 ET35-38 with 205/45 and 235/40

can i mix say 15's at the front and 16's at the rears if i keep the rolling radius the same?

what offsets would i choose then?

No reason why not mate, lots of sports cars have double staggers as standard. Lotus Elise/Exige f'rinstance.

Offset is derived from the widths rather than the wheel diameter, so aim for the same widths offsets I've outlined above.

my stock rear rims have 6.5J written on them...i thought they were supposed to be 7's?

do you know the maximum tyre size for a 7J wheel?

Stock rim sizes are 6j and 7j front and back i think.

Max tyre width for 7j would be 225, taken from the link below

yea it turns out that i dont have standard alloys lol

well i took marfs advice and went for a set of 17x8 ET35 which should allow for a larger tyre at the rear :)

Cool, with those sizes you be able to go 215/235 with a 40 profile and not worry about any arch rolling on the rear :thumleft:

the tyre sizes that come with the alloys are..

rear 235/45/17
front 225/45/17

now the rears seem to fit well with the car sitting static but the fronts touch the cup at the bottom of the spring..

i would like to keep the rears as they are simply because the roads round here are simply so bad..the 45 sidewall i think will help add some movement to the suspention?

to do this i would need to put a 215/45/17 at the front...it looks like they would fit by my measurements but can anyone confirm this?

I run APEX coil overs with 10mm spacers on front but would prob get away with 5mm & running 10mm spacers rear to flush the wheels with the arches :thumleft: PM Bry on hear I'm shore on his yellow two he had same size wheels (not advans but same size) front with standard shocks :thumleft:

I'd go with 215/40. Thats what I used with my ET35 17x8 BBS LM wheels. No rubbing or fouling, and it was bloody tight!!

got any pics of the front and where they touch? I'd like to fit that size or 235x40 on the fronts but it's expensive buying tyres to find out they don't fit no matter what massaging is done

yeah mate that would be brilliant, don't go to great lengths just if you are there with the wheels off / on and have pics taken would be fab. If it just needs a tap with a small percussion instrument I might just do it for my own car :)
