The weirdest fault happened to me

Post by Odin_S »

1. key in ignition
2. Turned to ACC everything normal
3. Turned key to start engine, everything dead

No lights no nothing. :-k Luckily i left my battery charger at work plugged it in, car started as normal

The car has never done this before ( in fact has never not started) the volt meter said normal reading of 14.5 volts

Started today as normal too, thats really weird no warning at all, anyone help?

I'd check you're battery terminals are tight chap.

Me too, the first time! I've had it happen loads on many different MR2s. Quite often it's because the posts are too small for the terminals and they don't grip well. More often than not it's the earth rather than the live that's affected.

Had a similar fault on the corolla.

Started fine, drove to the destination, went back to the car -click then nothing.
Turns out the battery had failed (was a genuine toyota item) and could only get a minor voltage reading out of it, replaced it, no more problem.
