MR2 Specialists

Post by Animal85 »

My MR2 is in desperate need of a service, but not in the style of "pay me £150 and ill change your oil".

I need someone who knows the MR2 inside out.

The turbo side of things is very new to me and i don't yet understand all this boost jargen, but i know enough to know that its not running right.
Sometimes i put my foot down and although i can hear the turbo, nothings happening.
Its also miss-firing when the turbo kicks in at higher revs.
If the gear change isn't smooth, something knocks around in the back.
The fan on the intercooler isn't working.
Parts of the interior rattle.
The passenger door lock has stuck, so i can only open it with the key.
Although its alarmed with a key fob, i have to unlock the doors with the key.

I basically need a one-stop-shop, where i can drop it off and collect it all done.

Any suggestions? Im more concerned about the mechanical side of things than the doors/interior etc..

Any help appreciated. Im in Swindon (Wiltshire, West midlands) but don't mind traveling if im going to come back with a better car.

Thanks

i used Luke at Pacific works, even when i lived 250 miles from him.

Not had a turbo for a while but i would check that all the hoses are tight, mainly the turbo to the intercooler and intercooler to the throtlebody.

The intercooler fan only kicks in when the engine bay is getting too hot, normaly only after a good run on a summer day then idling for 5 mins or so.

If you unclip the wire that's connected to the sensor on the engine lid, the intercooler fan should then come on. Easy way to check its operation.

+1 for Luke @ Pacific Works, I travel to him 60 miles on a regular basis to get little things (and the bigger ones!) sorted.
Can't go wrong. Just look in the Trader Feedback forum.

+2 for Pacific Works. Been using Luke's services for a couple of years now and wouldn't take my 2 anywhere else. All he does is work on MR2s and knows them inside and out. His prices are great too!

+6 for Pacific Works!

Luke also knows good customer service and as you can see from the ++++s it makes a big difference.

Just give him a call. I found that even before I gave him any work he's always willing to talk through solutions/help you troubleshoot. In doing so he's pretty much secured my business for the life of my MR2.
