my supra updated with stereo build

Post by pistol pete »

Here it is after its first "quick" clean..
it is in desperate need of a clay bar and renovation, polish and wax..
then i shall get some nice pics up..

but here we are welcome to my car..

the stereo is awfull the cd player itself i hate.. the interior speakers do not work.. all that works is the amped 6x9's and the 2 subs (which are not boxed)
so next week the whole stereo system will be coming out..

well i love it so don't care what others think but i like to share

I know the rears need to fill the arches more.. but i really want a set of rota's..

thanks for looking

Really nice and in the best colour too!

I had a supra before i got my tubby. It was a 1994 TT6. Mental car, once you hit the 2nd turbo WOW! It also doesnt cost much to get them to 400bhp.

It yours a TT? I see it is a manual

Top notch :thumleft:

Not sure about the wheels and skirts Pete but the rest looks pretty tidy.

Can you not salvage any of that boot install as it all looks quite good?

UK spec glass headlights if I'm not mistaken :thumleft: They make for a much cleaner front end. Not a fan of the stick on carbon poo on the dashboard though!
IMOC-UK - the only club to win 'Best Club Stand' at JAE more than once, and twice in a row!

cheers guys..

right..
it is only a na... but i wanted a manual white one more than anything else.. and it does go well, compared to me driving a 60hp corsa everyday (as this is just for weekends)... and i do have plans for it..

just trying to find a white manual was hard enough.. i would like a TT but i did not want a auto and it had to be white.. so going to single turbo this instead.. :) the kits are out there and the na engines take to it very well

yep it will be at JAE.. should i park on imoc or the mk4 supra stand.:-k..
and after ben edwards went out in it he was quite surprised how quick it was (not sure one the auto na's though) he is now looking for one, see his car in the for sale section

yep they are glass uk lights they look much better than the tellowd jap ones

i really like the wheels and skirts..
the wheels will eventually be change (to ones which fill the arch more)but i doubt any time soon.

had a supra before and it was a 650hp auto monster.. but i must say this one is more "fun" and a better drive 1 cos its manual 2 cos my old one you had to be doing 60 before it became fun..
but i did love my old supra and have tried to find a car that i thought was as good.. i have tried a few.. not found one.. so come back to one..

i will be salvaging the stereo equip.. but before i rebuild its gotta come out..

:thumleft:

ill keep ya updated

well peoples
i currently have a horrid sony stereo in the car.
2 subs
2 6x9's in the boot
which look good but sound terrible
and none of the interior speakers work..
and when i looked behind the stereo it was worse than expected (although i have seen worse) and thats was it.. i am in no urgent need of the car so it was disconnect the battery rip it all out and start again

i am going kenwood through out.. but due to cost i will install the xtron dvd player as the headunit till i can afford the one i want at 600 squid cos the rest of my money at the build

i intend on a 4 channel amp for the interior speakers
and using one of the old 1000w amps to run the 2 subs..
getting some nice kenwood interiors too..

Pictures..
here is day 1
ripping out

it looks nice but most of the cables pulled straight out..

Image
ripping out
under the subs..
not it a box (they should be) but this inderneath
Image
Image

behind the stereo
Image
Image

not how the crimps should be
Image

not where the cable should be running
Image

to run my subs
Image

how it is a nice blank canvas

well
i managed to get on a bit today../
got all the soldering done so i am now much happier with the connection to the stereo
Image
all nicely heat shrinked and then wrapped
Image
.. to find the xtron dvd player does not fit the dash.. to tall
so i fitted a double din md player for now again the wiring on this had been mashed so out come the soldering iron
but all fiteed and worked
Image
now the internal speakers work.. but sound cack as they have blown so will be gettin the new ones this week and running the car with them off the head unit untill the boot build is done

so next i stripped out all the wiring not currently used so all the phono leads came out and remotes and old power leads which leaves my boot competly blank
Image

now i can use the car as i buy all the bits i want (extras i have decided on) then i can dummy build it while i use the car... the take the car off the road for a week to fit it all up

but i am much happier now knowing its a lot safer
