took it off my last car, the thinking being that if I let it go then I may never have a MK1 again, with the strut brace reminding me it needs a home I will have to get another car

currently I have things to do which mean buying a car is out of the question, later though when i have sorted out what to do with the rest of my life I can (if I decide thats what I want) then I will try and source the best MK1 I can find if/when I get my 3rd MK1 it will be a "keeper"

Mine is defo a keeper, currently on 50k miles, maintained fastidiously as my main hobby.

I would say nows a good time to find a keeper, over the next 10 years there will be very few good examples. I got my first MK1 when I was 18 and I remember seeing A LOT more on the road back then...

Its a shame really but I do immensely enjoy driving something that you dont see everyday. As opposed to a... mini cooper for example!

Long shot but does anyone happen to have one for a sunroof?

Fitted a standard one during winter but now the sun is out it's getting a bit annoying storing it behind the seat or leaving it at home .

2 stock ones that I know of, one is a simple straight bar accross that's seen in all T-bars. T'other one has a kink that goes down into the frunk before going across so that the sunroof can be stored. The latter one's pretty rare as i think it may have only been an option. :-k

Otherwise there's the usual selection of Cusco type strut braces to be had (on occasions) but with the number of T-bars being broken out there the only reason to buy one's for the bling.

sunroof (moonroof) ones have a kink in them allowing the glass panel to fit in the frunk BIGBOBO is in belgium so maybe he has a LHD car makes a difference as they are handed too, to accomodate the brake master cylinder and reservoir, I have never seen a RHD drive sunroof strut brace here in the UK, Aus maybe best bet to find a RHD one and US for a LHD one

A quick look through the EPC and ToyoDIY suggests a RHD sunroof strut brace may not exist. I found part numbers for LHD Sunroof (53607-17020, available on US cars only by the looks of it) and T-Bar (53607-17010) parts but nothing for a RHD sunroof model. All variants that I was able to try either gave the tbar part number or "Not applicable".

Looks like those of us in the UK are stuffed bit BIGBOBO can always try asking his local dealer if they can get one...

Thanks for pointing that out, didn't realise there would be a difference between RHD and LHD sunroof strutbars.

I've seen one sunroof car that had it on a meeting once, but that's it.

I'm sure mr T charges an insane sum for the sunroof strubar, guess I'll have to get someone to make me one :).

I have seen LHD ones for sale on ebay USA, never seen a RHD one in the UK but I believe they were a std. fitment downunder which is why i suggested ebay Aus for a RHD one

I know they're not always accurate but ToyoDIY suggest a price of $200 or so, so probably not too far off what you'd pay for an aftermarket one. Certainly worth asking although I'd expect availability might be an issue.
