Bit out of touch, Got a new PC! What games should I get?

The last time I had an 'in date' pc was back in 2001! Even then it was crap and I've bought/got passed on used machines since.

Thought I would finally treat myself and ordered the following i7 gaming computer although I know it won't run the latest games at full res.

I used to be into first person shooters and games like C&C red alert. Also like racing games and some combat flight sims.

What good games have I missed over the last couple of years and what should I get?

COD series (4, MW and Black Ops) are good although Black Ops is still a bit expensive for what it is...

Starcraft 2

DON'T get C&C4, apparently its a let down

Excellent! Already got mw2 and black ops on the ps3. I want games which are unique to the pc.

Marf I will check those out as well! Reall getting excited about getting the pc. Should arrive by Thursday fingers crossed!

Fallout new vegas, or fallout 3 game of the year pack. fantastic games.


Go for modern warfare 2 over black ops imo (cheaper and game play is very similar)

Curious to know why you went with with a core 2 chip rather than the newer, faster i7? They're similarly priced but the i7 uses a newer socket so when faster chips come out you'll not need a new motherboard.

It was a xxxx or get off the pot moment. I wanted an i7 but couldnt justify the cost over and above a decent quad core intel.

Not really regretted it, my machines crunches crysis quite nicely at 1080p on my HDTV

Similar spec to my new work PC. As others have said C&C4 is pants.

World in Conflict is a great game if you like the previous C&C's and you have to get C&C Decade for all the older great C&C games.

Currenlty in the process of transfering crap over and having a clearout of stuff i dont need.

Had a couple of drives in the old machine and the plan is to move one over to the new machine and leave the OS HD in the old one. I had a folder with 17.1Gb of crap which i wanted to transfer over so started to copy it locally from drive to drive.

It stated an estimated 121min to transfer the data over! Thought sod this and moved it over to the new machine to do it on there instead... take a guess the time estimate difference? 10 min! lol

I have finally moved into the modern high speed world!
