[Mk2] [NA] Possible to connect iPod direct to Amp?

I was wondering if it's possible to connect an iPod directly to the factory amp and ditch the head unit?

cant see why not unless the ipod doesnt pump out enough voltage to the amp. Then again thats what the gain is for, to match the input of the amp to the output voltage of the headunit.
