Hi,
I am needing to take the crakshaft pully off as I need to change the temperature housing as the guy I bought the car off has snapped the housing.
For love nor money can I get this crank pully bolt to move, have tried lubing, powerful airgun, impact hammer, holding the flywheel tight then using a breaker bar. Its not budging.
Looking at the manual I can see you can buy a tool but only after spending £60.
Any suggestions to move this stubben one?
Thanks.

Plenty of gen on this one on here- worth a search buddy.
People suggest:
- lots of heat
- 2m breaker bars
- heavy duty impact wrenches
- putting a breaker bar on it against the ground and flicking the starter motor
The last time I had to get mine off it was totally solid...I got it as hot as I dared, impact wrench, nothing...in the end I turned up the compressor and used the heavy duty impact wrench on it after heating it
It will come undone mate...just need to get enough torque on it

Make yourself up an SST (I used a piece of chequer plate, others use a cheap adjustable spanner), two holes to match to the pulley, and a notch to access the crank bolt.

Be warned if the bolt is reluctant then you'll likely need a 3-leg puller to remove the pulley afterward.

heat is no no on the crank pulley bolt
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crankshaft Pully Bolt IMPOSSIBLE
1) Put car in a forward gear
2) stand on brakes
3) use long breaker bar on bolt
4) ??
5) Profit!

Cos of the rubber in the crank pulley (that I've just found out about ), or to avoid any damage to the timing belt?
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crankshaft Pully Bolt IMPOSSIBLE
aah the crank pulley bolt...one of the hardest bolts on the 2 along with the CAT bolts
I didn't have an impact gun so I carefully drilled a pilot hole and then drilled it out even further. You have to be VERY careful to go in as straight as possible (I was only using a handheld mains drill)...but it worked although I still needed to use a 1m long breaker bar on the xxxxxx
I don't recommend this is the best solution - definately try the biggest impact gun first (I didn't have one) but it works as a last resort.

I had the same problem, i ended taking off the sump and jamming the crank, bit extreme, but it worked.
