What is the standard rev 3 3SGE CR?

Post by ashley »

Dumb question, but surprisingly I'm struggling to find a definative answer :-k

Looking at Wikipedia it looks to be 10:1, but some websites say 10.3:1 or even 11:1...

Can't see it in the BGB...

Can anyone confirm please?

Most sources seem to quote 10.3:1, for example:

The 11:1, and 11.5:1 must have been the Beams motors (red and black top respectively).

That rings a definite bell -but they're gen 4's. Don't know what the gen 3 3SGE is, I only got the ST205 workshop manual but that's a gen 3 3SGTE.

Gen2: 10.1:1
Gen3: 10.3:1
Gen4: 11:1
Gen5(Blacktop Beams): 11.5:1 (M/T Only)

Hope that helps.

Just as a matter of interest, the Jap spec engine has a different shaped piston and is slightly higher compression. When I rebuilt mine, the Jap piston wasn't available in oversizes, so I fitted UK spec ones. They're a very slightly different shape.

I should have taken a side by side pic.
