Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
I'm building up a spare 3SGE block I have, it was badly stepped enough that I've decide I need to use 86.5mm pistons....but I want to keep the standard CR, and don't want forgies...
I've heard that Mahle do o/s standard NA pistons, but I'm really struggling to find where to source a set.
Anyone point me in the right direction please?
Want to keep the engine within championship reg's in case I ever actually have a go, from what I understand 86.5mm are ok as long as they ain't forged and are standard compression
I presume toyota don't make standard 'oversize' pistons then??
As I would have thought due to the specific nature of it any aftermarket would be Forged and turned.

Cheers Paul- in all honesty I didn't even think of calling Mr T
I'm sure Patrick mentioned he uses Mahle pistons, but he's a bit busy at the moment finishing up the Britcar...hence my question on here!
I'll call Toyota and see how loud they laugh at me
Cheers bud- been trying to get through to him but the workshop number seems to be disconnected, and can't get an answer on his mobile...I'll keep trying
Little late now, but Toyota DO supply o/s pistons.
When I rebuilt my 3sge back in 2003 they were not listed for the jap spec engine, but were for the UK spec one. They worked out around £200 for the set, but don't know if they'd still be available.
