[Mk2] [Turbo] Brake dust shield.

Post by adam maclean »

While reading up on brake pads I've seen a few removing the dust shield from around the disk. Like this one:

Is there any benifit to this other than asthetics? Is there any downside?

Please go easy on my if there's a very simple answer to this .

The dust shields also have a scoop on them that is meant to help the cooling of the brakes. How good these are at doing that i don't know.

I think your'e missing the point of that mate. Some folk are fitting bigger brake discs and callipers and the bigger ones foul the stock dust shields so they either need cutting back or just removing. You wouldn't just remove them for asthetics if you were keeping the stock set-up, they're there for a reason.

Hense the preemptive . should have realised but was looking for info on pads so must admit I didn't pay a lot of attention to disks.
