[Mk2] [Turbo] steering gaitors leaking P/S fluid

car is a 1993 turbo, is there supposed to be fluid in the gaitors? or is the rack seals gone? any help advice please

No, they're just there to keep the road dirt out of the inner joints.

It certainly sounds like it. Best bet would be to get the gaitors off or at least undo the clip/cable tie securing them to the rack and pull them to the side and have a look while someone operates the steering (with the pump running, obviously).

ahh, would this have affected the rack? as i have noticed for quite some time that my steering was very vague and used to wonder around and had a lot of play but all componetns (bushes,tophats,track rods inn+out,etc) have all been replaced, also gets quite stiff sometimes too,

also is the u.k spec or jdm NA rack the same ratio and fitment,?
