Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Think this is the 1st time i've been gutted to sell a car, been swithering for weeks whether to or not but that's it away now
When you put a lot of time and effort into a car i suppose it's natural.
What to do now...
Onwards and upwards !
Go take a pokey little deisel for a spin out !! You'll laugh at how torquey it is and how frugal it is !!
New Beemer 320 D - 8 secs to 60, 140 mph tops... and 68 mpg average !!

Think it's because there are so few good MR2's about now that i know how hard it'll be to find one as good.
Dont diss the diesel power mate, my missus 04 plate 330 beemer leaves mr2 turbo's for dust, even mildly modded ones. And my Honda civic 2.2 diesel will stay along side a tubby no problem and its only about 140bhp
Diesel power is the way forward

Come on, serious.
The 330 would be close, the 2.2 civic, forget it!
From a rolling start, say 30 or 40 it would be close but off the line 0-60 diesels are lame

The 330 is sooooo much quicker than a tubby mate, straight up, Iv'e had 4 tubbys to date, and i drive her 330 most days so i know the difference. As for the civic, its not all about the bhp, its got just over 250 lb/ft of torque, and the way the power is delivered through the revs / gears,
330d faster than a tubby
My e46 330ci M Sport was great but no way it was faster than a tubby and the 330d isn't faster than the petrol.
Like you I've owned a few tubbys.
