Toyo and MBC advice

Post by daz364 »

Right guys iv got 2 niggling issues on my car Since turning the car back to standard.

Iv had toyo's put on front and rear 225/50/15 and 205/50/15 on front. The car has only done a 1000 miles of driving this year as now its a second car. Everytime I seems to hit full boost you seem to get sideways and its just abit annoying when you pull out to over take.I have read on here that people run diffrent tyre pressures now can anybody reccomend a tyre pressures for the t1r, I was running standard was looking through the search the other day and somebody say 34 and 38 in the back but this doesnt feel right either please help.

Second one is MBC to turn the boost down on a grainger valve is it screw out or screw in ?

Cheers Daz

I run 32 psi front and 36 psi rear on 16'' wheels. Works a treat for me.

To turn down the boost on a MBC you screw the bolt out as this decreases the pressure on the spring that seats the ball.

i have the exact same set up with toyos on my tubby.worst tyres ive ever had.i was told they need a few hundred miles ta break in.ive done a few thousand and there still the same way.feels like the back wheels are loose or something.i have no confidence driving my car anymore it just feels dangerous.t1r's are absolute rubbish in my opinion but a few people seem ta be using them without problems.

To be fair 1) Toyo's seem to have a horrendous running in period -mine took over 600 miles on the MR2 and about 400 on the GT4 and 2) Toyo's are well known for sidewall flex on higher profiles (folk fitting them on 15's seem to have probs allot more than folks fitting them on the likes of 17's).

...All depends on your suspension set-up and driving style as well. Personally I swear by them for the money and think they're fantastic in wet weather but I think I'd be weary of them in higher side walls.

yep I had the same issues on the 15's with toyo's. S bends were a religious experience - I ended up changing to 17's to get a choice of decent tyres

As RST said, I think the t1r's as a budget tyre are awesome! I'd run lower pressures. Had mine around 30 front 32rear iirc.
When I went round the 'ring in them, they were really impressive!!!
I had a confidence issue with them a while back, but had tracking checked & adjusted (was a country mile out!) and it was like a whole new car!
