[Mk2] [Turbo] Standard clutch limitations?

Post by tommundy »

Hi all,

My current clutch has started to slip at higher boost levels ( >.8 ) and I was just wondering whether I'd be okay to run a standard exedy clutch (unsure of what is currently in there) on my rev2 engined Mk1.5 with the following mods:

Boost @ 1 bar
CT26 Hybrid
ST205 Chargecooler

I don't take it on the drag strip and am not thinking about any future mods to increase the power. However, it is used as a fast road machine and driven quite hard.

Will an OEM clutch be okay? I've read they're capable of upto 300ft/lbs, which should more than cover my power levels.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Tom

Chris, what clutch did you end up using in your car? Mine has finally given up now!
476bhp & 415ft lb @ 1.9bar Magic by Ryan!
Gone, but never forgotten
Now with a mk1.5 & a NHB EP3
