MOT time

Post by jimi »

When I was driving back up the M6 from the Classic & Sports car photo-shoot on Monday it occurred to me that my MOT was due this month but couldn't remember when.
I checked on Tuesday morning and discovered that it ran out that day  I phoned the place I use and managed to get it booked in for 10 this morning, didn't really have time to check anything other than the lights.
Took it in the morning and .........

it passed, no problems, no advisories !!

Good for another year 8)

I didn't expect it to fail, but you never know, it failed on emissions last year :(
Luckily it was easy sorted, the problem was a slight leak on a vacuum pipe, replaced it and it sailed through afterwards.

Emissions this year were
CO 1.69% (max allowable 3.50)
HC 160ppm (max allowable 1200)

Cool. My 1986 na failed on track rod ends, play in steering yoke and a small hole in the rear quarter. It also had a list of advisories.

I welded a small 2x2 inch plate to the quarter, replaced the track rod ends and banged it back in at another test station and it passed with no advisories!
