Stressed...pi$$ed off...should I give up?

Hi folks,

There's two things that are really getting to me. Firstly I can't start my car and haven't been able to for about a week no because there's no spark at the plugs. I've tried every single test there is under the sun and still no spark. I've change the plugs and the coil aswell and today I made sure the coil/amplifier pack was grounded properly I even made a dedicated ground for the coil itself but it hasn't made any difference

Anyone have any good news for me?

And last but not least I recently made a deal with Mr Alex Bryson on here to exchange my autopista spoiler with a veilside spoiler...unfortunately he didn't send one back, now I have all the evidence of all the emails, I have his home address, email address, phone number, all the postage documentation and the email conversations. Should I go to the police as considering it's theift? Does anybody on here know him or of him?

sorry to hear about your troubles

spark - how far back up the system have to traced it? has the ign circuit got power at the fuse? is the timing OK? not that you can put the rotar in the wrong way on these cars...


the spoiler - I would send an e-mail and letter stating clearly that you've not received the spoiler, and require him to get immediately in touch with you to explain and rectify this, otherwise you'll refer the matter to the police as theft.

it's all you can do really, but the small claims courts should give a clear recourse because you've got the proof.

citizens advice can always give more assistance on this.

I've traced it back to the coil. I've checked the voltage going in which is around 12V but the voltage going out is no where near the 15,000-20,000 volts that should come out. I'll checked the timing but I will take another look at the fuse tomorrow...don't think there's anything left to check that could be going wrong

Thank you very much for reassuring me about the legal side of these things, I've never had any experience with legal issues so I wasn't sure if it was a good enough case to present infront of a small claims court.

deffinatly check the fuse, think its the IGN one. mine was partially blown and only letting a tiny amount of eleccy through which messed things up. cost me £150 too and even an auto eleccy guy couldnt find the problem. he was good

yep and he wouldnt refund neither. was £45 for the initial inspection then something like £30 per hour after he then gave up and it was only off the top of my head that i thought id change it

You say you've changed the coil. Do both have the same lower voltage coming out? Would definately be worth tracing further back from here. As stated, check the main fuses.

Theres every chance the guy that you sent the spoiler to may have a valid reason for not getting back in contact with you, he may be ill or something, you never know

If thats not the case, you do still have his address, either go round and take the spoiler back (pull it off his car if you have to) OR post him some other stuff... maybe a dog turd in a box or some road kill... just a thought

Cantfindausername - By the way that is a great username lol yeah I've got the same 12v goin in the coil and 12v coming out, I'll trace it back like you said and check the fuse.

Have you bridged the two terminals in the diagnostic port :

E1 and TE1 ?!! Check engine light may shed some light...

Normally if theres a major sensor fault or sync issue, the ecu doesn't allow the engine to fire...

So first look at check codes.....

I'll hook up the diagnostics machine to my car tomorrow and try that, thanks JJ. Also all the fuses on the car are fine...this is really starting to get complicated...
