it's an HKS lol :)

this is the early HKS one, think you can buy an adapter to recirculate this, see if you can find one, then you won't need to remove it :thumleft:

I got one of these. I think its one of the best sounding BOVs (And i've had a few lol!)

It's the HKS Sequential BOV.

I'm gonna spray mine up as the paint has chipped like yours.

Like any BOV it won't do your car any favors being a Rev 1. Will cause the car to run rich. I Run a greddy type S recirculated day to day and when i fancy the sound i just whack the HKS on for a week and not worry about petrol consumption

as far as i know a vented to atmosphere is bad for anything below a rev3 and you loose performance

i could be wrong on this thou and hope i am as id really like to keep mine but id rather have better performance

why do you have to fit a re-circ to the rev1's?

Rev 1's (gen 2 3SGTE) use an air flow meter (AFM) which measures the volume of air (and calculates the weight) going into the engine. If you fit a vent to atmosphere BOV on a gen 2 then some of the air which was metered is lost and the ECU doesn't know it's lost so effectively puts in too much fuel as you've lost the weight of air through the BOV. On a rev 3+ (gen 3 3SGTE) the ECU uses a manifold absulute pressure (MAP) sensor so it doesn't make any difference whether you vent to atmosphere or not as the ECU only looks at the pressure in the inlet manifold (then back calculates the weight) right at the engine and should always put the right fuel in for the weight of air you're putting into the top of the engine.

If you recirculate the air back into a gen 2 then none of it is lost so the fuelling should still be correct.

At least describing as "weights" is the best way I can think of it -sure that's technically correct as they all use IAT in the calculation also.

so its all about really over fuelling when i change gear?

in turn will cause it to run rich?

can it really be that bad for performance for the mild bit of over fuelling?

Could be leaking boost as well, this will dent performance.
