Engine number location

Would someone be able to tell me where to find the engine number on a 3S-GTE?

Could be wrong but i thought i saw today a flat plate with numbers on it, on the engine right next to the top of the gearbox bell housing. Sorry cant be sure was struggling to do a clutch change at the time.

3S engine number is located at the flywheel end of the block under the water elbow:
