[Mk2] [NA] Knocking noise from the back end

Post by Chaps110 »

Afternoon all,

Just picked up my first MR2 yesterday, i'm aware there is a knocking noise coming from the back end. I did read a while ago that can be a big problem but it may just be a loose exhaust clip or something similar. Its only happening up to about 45mph when i go over bumps or uneven surfaces. Doesn't sound like its engine related. I'm just looking for some spitballing to try and get an idea of where to look!

I'm a relative novice on both cars in general and MR2's so lamens terms would be appreciated

Cheers

Possibily the droplinks. If they haven't been changed for a while then for the price of them it is probably worth changing them. :thumleft:

Take the wheel off and see if you can locate the knocking noise, keep an eye out for split ball joints and obvious wear.

Then post back with what you find...

I'm not entirely sure how my ears are working but we've tracked the sound down the front top mounts so not a bad job really. Think its the switch to mid engine, my brain is still trying to get its head around where sounds are coming from ! cheers for the help though guys
