sticking os front caliper

in spite of me cleaning them and greasing sliders etc 3 months ago went out for a spin today after giving the car a good detail smelled burning stopped and the caliper was smoking the whole wheel was scorching :/ really is a week point on these otherwise excellent cars

will strip caliper tomorrow

If your slider are good, then you have sticking pistons.

Either overhaul yourself (likely to be a short term solution), or replace with a reconditioned unit.

pretty sure its the bottom piston but will see tomorrow , if it is il just renew with a refurbed one

Not all of them buddy. My last MR2 of eight years never had a problem with the brake and so far so good with MR2 number 2.

Not all of them buddy. My last MR2 of eight years never had a problem with the brake and so far so good with MR2 number 2.

agree, in nearly 6 years of ownership i have never had a brake problem, one of those was the same car for 4 years

my rev1 front passenger side kept sticking

replaced with rev2 units now so il see how they get on

I've owned mine for 7 years and the last 3 years it's needed work every 6 months or so. Changed the fronts for porsche units so hopefully no more issues there

on another note what grease do you's use for rebuilding the calipers?

I've had 2 MR2's in the last 6 years and I've never had any sticking caliper problems.

Until now.

Going to have a look at them this week to see whats happening!
