[Mk2] [NA] Radiator Question

Post by tkl »

I've just replaced the radiator, I've bought one from Rogue Motorsport really well made Rad and very quick delivery. But there is one thing that's seems to be missing and that's the bleed nipple at the top of rad, there is a plug at the top but nothing to bleed with. My 2 is a 1990 UK Rev1 and the original rad had a block with the tap on it. Any ideas chaps.

Why dont you ask Rogue?

Sounds strange as you should bleed if from there, can you not just undo the plug and bleed it that way?

If it's the type i think you're describing, as LJ suggested, just undo the plug, let the air out, and when coolant emerges, tighten it up.

See below how to bleed the coolant system, shouldnt matter about the bleed nip on the rad:

I have the same radiator, not a issue. Ive had mine for a year and its been fine. As long as theres no airlocks in there its all good. :D

Nice one everyone, really appreciate your help and you are quite right, all I need to do is undo that plug.
Been on the phone to Rogue Motorsport first thing this morning, and a mechanic I spoke to also mentioned to undo the plug to let the air out, when all the air is out and water starts to come out, turn the plug back in, and to do it a few times as you would in the normal way you would bleed the coolant. That's straight forward enough it just makes the other clear bleed tube redundant, I'll give this a go at the weekend.
