Best size fronts to match 245/45/16 rears

Post by Timsmr2 »

I have currently have

Rears - 245/45/16 (Hankook RS2s) on a 16x8 ET38 rim
Fronts - 205/45/16 (cheap tyre) on a 16x7 ET35 rim

I'm looking at changing the fronts as they are a budget tyre and bit small in comparison with the rears. The sizes I have been considering are 205/50/16 & 215/45/16 both sizes are available on RS2 with would be my prefered tyre.

So was wondering which of these tyres would go best with the rears and provide the best handling / looks combination?

how do you rate the rs2's, i was running the T1r's in that size and found them to wobly on the side walls. im looking at trying the new toyo's that are a 35 profile but my wheels are.t really wide enough for the 245's i dont think. id go 215 as i found that 225 feel a bit big and dopey your not putting any power through them so a good set of 215 should do the job well

So far I've only had the RS2s on the back (had T1rs before) and from the little driving i have done with them I do prefer them. They are a road legal trackday tire so are much more grippy than the t1rs also the side wall are stiffer so less wollowing and are about the same price too, the downside is that I imagine they will wear faster (although i dont do enough miles to notice).

That hasn't fit without scrubbing near full lock on either of the sets of 16" rims I've had.

Nicked a pic of alani's car which I believe had 205/50-16 front on an 8 j rim and 245/45-16 on a 9 rear, one of the smartest looking cars I've seen.
