[Mk2] [Turbo] Is this supension adjustable?

Post by Fred_Bear »

Hi

This is a photo of my front driver side suspension, is there any way to adjust this to get a 'smoother' ride. On some roads I have to hold the underneath of the steering wheel to avoid my fillings coming loose. I have wire brushed it and wiped down with WD40, but it still looks a bit of a state.

looks like pretty stock suspension strut painted red? If it is adjustable you will have either a knob (Err  ) at the bottom of the strut or possibly a dial at the top (in the frunk where the top mount bolts to car). If the springs are lowered its probably them causing harsh ride.

Hi

Ok, thanks.

So if I wanted to get a decent ride (married so cannot remember the last one of those) what would I have to do, and how much approximately?

Thanks

Eibach springs are highly rated, I like them too...

So that's around £200.

New shock absorbers, if you needed to get them, are around £250 from Toyota for a whole set.

for better comfort I would probably start by swapping the springs for a set of Rev 3 turbo standard ones. They are a pretty easy and cheap swap. Loads of people have them kicking about from swapping to lowered springs so you will be able to get a set for very little I would imagine. Benefits here are rev3 turbo ones are slightly lower than Rev 2 ones but still factory comfort levels. While doing this you can check your shocks and make sure there rebounding correctly. If the stuts do need replacing, you probably want to do the opposite to most and dont go for rev 3 turbo struts as they are bilstein uprated (25ish per cent I think). Stock rev 2 turbo struts should be fine with Rev 3 springs. Anyway Id try the springs first because stock springs are black and not white as in your pic suggesting that there lowered or uprated.
Hope this helps
