The other day i replaced my thermostat on my mr2 turbo and the whole dip stick come out with the tube which connects to the sump... on the tube bit has it meant to a a O ring seal. all i did was just put it in the hole and connect the support nut back on at the top.? if the O ring not on will i lose oil or will i get oily smell in the cabin.

Is there an actual question in there somewhere?

From your nickname I'm guessing you're talking about the MR2 turbo?

Have a look at this thread: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=122917

I have an n/a but the first reply was from a tubby owner. The link he provided suggests the o-ring (if that's what you're actually asking about) is part number 96741-19010
Information from here: http://www.ayrpark.plus.com/epc/toyota/ ... _1993.html

Having said that, if it was me I'd nip down to B&Q and buy a packet of suitable o-rings from their plumbing department for about 50p.
