Rescued another mk1 PIC HEAVY

Post by oukie »

Found in a Barn in Oxfordshire

RARE genuine Gunmetal Grey T-bar UK car

I picked up this beaut on Tuesday, The barn it was in is HUGE  I had to reverse my van and trailer right in just to get near,

The body work is in Fantastic condition with no rust up front and only minnor bubbling on rear arches, The main damage is the N/S rear 3/4 window is broken (from when car was broken into :( ) and the driverside mirror is bust. the rest is just very VERY dusty and has been sitting for some time , Its a non runner at the moment but I got alot of paperwork with the car, Old MOT's receipts service history etc etc, so I expect to able to get it going after I have had a look see :thumleft:

Dusty pic's

I now have it home and have washed years worth of dust off, better piccies to follow , I will not be breaking this car and I hope to eventually get it back on the road.

nice one, wondered if it was someone on here who got it.

I saw it on ebay too, but as the chap wouldnt take any more pics of the arches, and I couldnt get to see it, I had to pass. ( and didnt bid... :) )

genuine bargain there !

please ! get it back on the road :)

did you see the silver one too ? looked a bit more ropey ?

Better pics coming, Ive washed it :thumleft:

100k miles it has not been on the road for best part of 7 years, or at least the last time it was taxed was 2003

The fusible link has gone so I need to investigate further :D

None of the brakes had seized up but were very stiff I have already changed the front wheels to those withair in them and I have freed up the front brakes, I will try to get onto the rear tomorrow.

The other car that was there (silver MK1) was purely a spares car, It had major rot to A,B chassis rails up front sills wings etc etc etc. :(

I think I was just very lucky although I do seem to a bit of a jammy g1t sometimes

I think it was more being in the right place at the right time I pushed the seller quite hard to let me view and I managed it on the saturday the auction ended on sunday.

I wasn't even home I just stuck £300 on it and basically waited and checked round my friends and it jumped from £132 to £228 in the last 5 seconds so I was lucky no one bidded higher that I did .
