[Mk2] [Generic] impulse buy by mistake, JVC ipod connector, bought for iphone, ideas?

i bought this on ebay for a decent price, expecting to hook it up to my iphone, however was a quick impulse buy and i didnt realise it ONLY fits the ipod, and not the iphone, i would have thought same connection, it should work.

but seems it wont work with the iphone.

anyone know of some kind of ipod to iphone adapter so i could get this to work somehow?
if not, i either get an ipod or i sell this unit on.

I don't see how it can be compatible with the new iPod touch but not with the iPhone, they're the same device!

I would try it anyway. If it doesn't work it can always go back on eBay.

You could always buy a cheap ipod and put all your tunes onto it. just like your iphone.

I have an iphone and a video ipod and only use the V ipod to connect to the HU and listen to all my music.

I put my JVC headunit into Line In mode instead of iPod Control mode. My iPhone 3GS then plays happily through the PD100 adaptor with control from the iPhone itself. Impossible to control it from the HU I'm afraid (incidentally these also don't work with 2nd and 3rd gen touches).

You'll probably find that it will play music but it will not charge the device at the same time, and you will probably get a message about wanting to enter Airplane mode to improve the sound, Just ignore the message and it should work fine :thumleft:

(disclaimer - At least that is what happens when I plug my iphone into an old ipod doc)
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

As I said before it will make no difference whether 3g or 3gs! The pd100 simply can't control the phone. But all JVC head units have two options with this interface;

1. IPod control AND audio through the dock connector (the mode your headunit is in currently)

2. Line In where only audio is passed via the dock connector and you retain control on the device itself.

The second mode is the only way to make this work! To set you hold down the SEL button to get into the setup pages, not the EQ page etc.

i realise it cant control the music through the hu, and that i have to select songs on the iphone itself, but what im saying is i cant select ANYTHING on the iphone.
it goes to a blank ipod screen and asks about this airplane business.

my HU automatically goes to cd multichanger mode soon as i plug in the pd100, so its in the right mode i asume?

if not ill hold down SEL and see what i find....i dont "think" i tried this...
not sure ive ever seen a line in mode....
i just asumed it was in the right mode as it automatically when to cd changer mode....

i can control song number selection and skip up and down the playlist via the HU.....i cant switch between albums, but is not a big deal.
