Having just upgraded the sub and amp in my car, I want to use the old amp to run the front speakers.
Can I just split the trigger wire coming from the headunit so it feeds both amplifiers?
can't see how that would be a problem but you will be literally halfing the signal strenght, which again, i can't see as being a problem, other than having to turn the amp up a bit more
sorry mate, i misunderstood, i thought you were splitting the speaker signal, you mean the remote wire, shouldn't be a problem, or you could run it from one amp to the other, that's what i've done
I take it you mean the remote lead (blue or blue/white on ISO) in which case yes you can split it as much as you want. I've got mine going into a 4 way distribution block which is really just splitting it

No worries dude. Is it really OK just to run it from one amp to the other? Would certainly make the wiring simpler

yeah, that's exactly what i have done, i have a 800watt amp running two 12 inch subs and a 350watt amp running a 8 inch sub, i really just ran the wiring right from one to the other
Hmm interesting.
This is getting easier and easier.
I'll be running a 900w amp(sub) and a 200W amp (front components)
What sort of thickness should I have wiring wise, and where should the fuses be?
The power line feeding the 900W amp already has an inline fuse.
You need to know the maximum power draw for your amps to be able to calculate appropriate cable diameter and fusing requirements.
Sadly car amps vary massively in efficiency so I can't really take the power output and multiply it by 1.25 to calculate approx power draw (which is what I would do with my PA amps). I have a class a and class d amp in my car and the d is really efficient and the a could double as a bar heater (but better sound quality).
Plus your 900w amp is probably not 900w They usually aren't. Might be 900W peak

Its a Fusion-RE-AM90010.
I have an Alpine MRP T406 for the fronts.
i can't mind what i used but it isn't all that think, the amps don't draw that much power although they put out a lot
i have one amp behing the passanger seat (it used to be underneath but i couldn't access it at all) and one monted in the sub box with the wires running under the center section, you see a bit of wire but it's otherwise tidy, the wire i used is about as thick as normal 240 power wire, like the stuff that's in the figure 8 power leads used for portable stereos etc, the blue and brown stuff(i feel i'm not describing this too well lol!) so it's not all that thick

Answer is yes. This is what I am doing in my Supra at the moment since my Cd player just have one lead out to turn the amps on. Just splice and solder away!

I wouldnt go below 4gauge power cable to run the two ie 4g from the battery with a fuse within 12" of the battery to a fused distribution block to split the power to the two amps (my one amp takes 55 amps at 3/4 volume) as the amps do need the voltage if you starve the amps you will get clip which will kill your speakers !
I am using 8gauge power cable as my speaker wire.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention I did use a distribution block as well for my amps. Perhaps you should look into that.
