Rough idea of the weight of my car please

Post by 2barGee »

Right she is a 1995 tin top, no aircon, no abs, no spare wheel :-) light weight wheels.

How much does this model weigh when it comes out of the factory??

I'll give a turkey sandwich 2 whoever reply's first :-)

Cheers dan

MK2 MR2's are roughly 1250kg out of the factory according to wikipedia.

I'm not sure how accurate that is or for what model though. I would have thought the turbo with ABS, aircon etc and all the toys would weigh a good bit more than a N/A with no toys.

Iv'e read quite a few different posts about the weight of mr2's when i wanted to know mine, opinion varies on it really i think the weight that came up most often was around 1240 kgs, take into account the weight of the things you dont have, abs,air-con etc id say it would be somewhere around 1200 maybe abit lighter :?:

Hope this helps :thumleft:

Oooo well if it is around 1200kg's then on my new setup which should be sorted in the next few weeks I'll be gettin these figures :-)

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 400
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1200
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 338.68
0 - 60 (Secs) : 3.80
0 - 100 (Secs) : 8.50
60 - 100 (Secs) : 4.70
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.00
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 118.84
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.90
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 120.21

I've got r888's as well so perhaps 0-60 in 3.6 ;-) would be pretty sweet

I did would have thought 1250kg
1300-1320 is prob a closer number for a 93+ turbo tbar. so minus tbar, 1270-1280. Minus your other stuff down to 1250.

There are very few mr2s stripped below 1200, so safe to say unless it's a stripped out track car, prob looking at 1250ish.

What you having done?? Did the engine give up the ghost?
Thought you wanted to see how far a stock engine would go on your td06?

hi mate, I'm having 86mm cp pistons fitted & a hks turbo.

I wanted some more power & the stock pistons where the weak point, I prob could have pushed it on the standard pistons but I wanted 2b safe.
Shame the cp set was missing a compression ring!!! I would have had my car back ages ago!!!!!!!! :-(

Check your last MOT certificate and associated print outs, mine has weight info from when they did the suspension tests I think.

1400kg for a Rev3 tubby

am hoping to have my rev1 to around 1100kgs as its easier to loose weight than add power

My rev1 (NA t-bar, no PAS, no ABS) weight is down to 1120kg with 3/4 of a tank(30kg?) thats without going too extreme or expensive
With carbon/fibreglass parts i think 1050 is possible?

Jonny

btw my car is fully stripped out :-p
