Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Just looking to see how many miles to a full tank folk are getting?
I am assuming the MR2 tank is a circa 50L?
Pretty much standard other than Exhaust and Induction Rev 3 Tubby. I am getting just over 200 miles to a tank and thats town driving with the very occasional foot down moments.
Is that about normal?
rev2 n/a with induction decat and exhaust, 300 miles to the tank some town some motorway.
soon to change the lambda sensor and take a look at the valve shims, which should give at least a little improvement.
I seem to have a bit of a super car when it comes to mpg, although it is far from super on power!!
My MR2 is just for work, I do 50 miles of m/way each day and if I take it easy in busy trafic I get 10 miles per litre, So for 50 quid of fuel I would get 500 miles. Drains it fast round town though.
i recently got just over 480 miles to 45 quid on a run (a long one )
i was actually pretty surprised as i booted it for quite a while during!
however, im running no mods and an n/a, so that might have something to do with it
Gen 4 3SGE, anything between sub 200 and 300 plus depending on driving style. Gen 3 SGTE in my Celica yields between 280 and just under 400 on a full tank in comparison.
...I think both worked out reasonably similar as the tank in the GT4 is bigger (takes about £15 more in same fuel). Trouble is finding decent fuel up here!!
Tank is 55l, fuel light comes on with 10l left when you are on flat ground.
rev3 Turbo, decat, induction, 1 bar boost. Most I've had is 320 to a tank on the motorway, I tend to average 230-260 daily, least I've had is 180 miles.
300 is the best I have ever got, and that is all conservative motorway driving. Normally with mixed driving it's 240-250 to a tank.
This seems a bit heavy to me for an N/A.
The car is going in for an MOT soon, might get a new Lamba fitted, what do peeps reckon??
Incidentially 300 miles to a tank is around 30mpg, with 240 to a tank around the 24/25mpg mark - so not the end of the world, but I just feel it's a little on the heavy side.
about 200 to a tank, rev 3 turbo.
I have no idea how people get over 300 in a turbo even on a long conservative drive. I think i managed just under 300 miles once, but just once and that was on a long run. I never leave it until the light comes on though, normally full up between the three quarter and enpty line.
MAybe I have a very heavy right foot.
Still its better then my old Supra.£70 would get me 200 miles
