[Mk2] [Turbo] Manifold bolts have snapped, HELP

Post by Deano2915 »

My turbo has blown it's compression seals, so off with the turbo....

I couldn't get to the mounting bolts turbo to exhaust manifold, so went for the easy option, Off with the manifold.

Didn't know how long the bolts had been in place, so plenty of WD40.

3 of the bolts SNAPPED!!!!!!!

Haven't touched the rest.

Question is, "Am i able to get the bolts replaced, or is it a new head?????????"

this is quite a common thing, there are various techniques to remove them from drilling them out to welding a nut on the end that can then be twisted out as normal. If some stud is showing there are stud removal tools to help.

Yeah as James says,

Get the manifold off and there should be enough left to get the snapped studs out with a extractor.

This should be ideal. :thumleft:
