[Mk2] [NA] Advice on fabricating bits to help my recaros fit

Post by samg1988 »

Test fitted the integra recaros once I got the universal subframes on.
After trying the passenger side, the best position is as close to the centre console as possible. This will be the same on the drivers side in order to be in front of the steering wheel and not to one side. With the brackets as they are in the pictures, the seats sit about the same as stock height, if anything a wee bit higher.

Heres how the front matches up:

And heres how the back matches up:

I need advice on what to get fabricated.
I'm thinking for the front, one metal bar with the bolt holes drilled in that will go right across the front. The existing brackets will then just be welded in place.

The back I'm struggling with. Should I try and use the bracket on the universal rail, and make an acute angled L bracket? or cut off the back and weld a new piece similar to the stock rails? (see diagrams)

If anyone has any advice it would be really helpful just now!

I`d agree with you on the front, nice thick bar weld or bolted across both exitsting mounts.

the back weld an angle across the 2 rears.

Cheers! I think I'll do that for the front. I think you're a bit mixed p with the back. The second pictures not very clear, the left of the picture goes towards the front of the seat if you see what I mean?

The genuine recaro subframes are offset so the seat goes in more to the centre of the car , here is a pic you can see the bolts by the side of the runners.

Best bet would be to make the brackets outta Alloy or Hard Nylon, just finished making some fully custom radiator mounts outta high temp Nylon as I replaced the rad with an aftermarket one, typically who ever makes them is good at alloy welding but crap at putting the mounting lugs in the right place.
