Dastek UniChip Help please

Post by ben_harmer32 »

Hi. I have a 1995 celica GT4. I've been offered a Dastek UniChip and was wandering if anyone colud offer me some information. It's from a Rev2 MR2 and i think my celica has the same engine as the Rev3, would this be compatible? After posting on the GT4OC i got a lot of bad reviews :( But someone suggested i post on here as u'd probably be more helpful :D Many thanks Ben

hi ben welcome to imoc (wrong section though  )
i dont think it would be compatable
the mr2 rev2 turbo (or rev1 turbo/celica st185) are air flow meter based and the rev3+/st205 celicas are map sensor based
there might also be pin issues

ive got one of these on my rev2 works a treat, though the guy who set it up had problems finding the throttle possistion sensor wire, and you would prob need a different loom for rev2 engine if youve got a rev3 loom i wouldnt of thought the ecu was different though dont quote me on that

Hi,

AFAIK, having a ST185 celica, they can be used on both but have to be wired up differently. If you have the boost module aswell this can make things easier. This depends on the type of Unichip but this shouldn't present any problem when the tuners fit it.

You are best off just letting them know the type and they should be able to advise you. Try Noble Motorsports in chesterfield.

BTW DO NOT just fit it yourself without remapping etc etc or you could make your 3S-GTE go pop!!
