What brand Engine oil do people recommend? Im looking for 10w40 and I was going to go with Castrol Magnatec but then noticed its only Semi Synthetic. Is Fully Synthetic the way to go or is Ester based even better?

How much oil does the MR2 take?

Also how many miles should you do an oil change at?

I used halfords 5w40 fully synthetic mr2 takes 4.5 litres i think

Tip: if your doing it yourself do it with the car level on the ground (it's possible to squeeze under) if the back end's elevated on ramps the old oil wont drain out completely.

It's also best to fill up with cheap asda oil first and run for 10 mins, that way your engine oil will stay much cleaner for much longer

Only thing is I dont think halfords do 10/40 Fully Synthetic

My car seems to have always had 10/40 in so dont want to go 5/40 incase it leaks a bit due to it being thinner

Someone once told me 10/40 was better for turbo cars, as the turbos like the slightly thicker oil. Not sure how true that is.

I only use Silkolene PRO S 10W-50 Ester Synthetic Oil as recommended by Oilman.

Depends on whether you are changing the filter at the same time.
With filter change approx 4.1 litres and without filter change approx 3.9 litres.

I use Gulf formula G 5w40 fully synth. Well for the last two oilchanges, before that I used castrol edge 0w40 because it was the only fully synth stuff I could get at the time. Might try that eneos oil if I can get hold of it.

I always change the filter with the oil, is it ok to leave the same filter on?

What oilfilters do you guys use? I use the oem toyota one, but not sure if its any good as its made in china now.
