Wipers

Post by theredbottle »

Just tried two sets of wipers from Halfords and the don't fit the straight wiper arm on the Mk1, any suggestions?

Yep, go back to Halfords and pickup the Jap car wiper blade converter :) You then clip this to the wiper blades and the converter then attaches to the arm.

Just one more query, Halfords imputted my index number which resulted in a 20" wiper for the driver and a 14" for the passenger. Seems a little short for the passenger side folks?

That's definitely wrong :?

IIRC it should be 18" for both wipers.

yeah definetly wrong them sizes

personally for the price go to Toyota its cheaper than halfords and you get the right thing that will fit your car straight out of the box.

thats what I did. I got a bosch set off ebay and they supplied the connverter but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how it fitted. Even a post here still left me confused.

went to Toyota, picked up a set with the 2 screw holes for £15, job done.

btw, on the drivers side, the aerofoil is held on by the same two screws as the blade, so that transfers easily too
Unless I'm very much mistaken...

There is a part from one of the newer Toyotas which is a direct replacement on an MR2 and tbh they're so cheap it's not even worth mucking about with Halfords ones:

P/N 85220-YZZAL £4.21 plus VAT each for complete blade assemblies which screw on to the arms as Toyota intended.
