Inner quarter panels replacement

Post by nightkid »

Hi all
I'm in the process of replacing the quarter panels on my MK1. I've got the old one off, cleaned up all the spot welds and the new panel lines up all fine, ready to be spot welded back on. Problem is the inner panel is a little bit rusty, especially along the wheel arch. I can fabricate some arch replacement from sheet metal but not too confident about it so my question is, does anyone sell replacement inner panel arches for the MK1 or maybe same dimension off another vehicle?

I have photos to show but no idea how to attach them in the post.

Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers

There are no replacement panels available, most people, like you mentioned fabricate their own or modify arches off a different car. I seem to remember some one mention fiesta arches, but might be wrong. Im sure someone will be along to suggest a few options.

How to post pictures;

Crazylegs Kev had to get the inner arches replaced, but as said above, they are no longer available, IIRC, it had to be a custom job.

The replacement arches also mentioned are only outer ones.

The inner ones are totally unique to the AW11 and if they need work on, it will have to be custom which often = £££ I'm afraid.

I've just done Cassi's rear n/s arch and the inner arch was ok but it was rusted far enough back that it didn't meet the arch.

My solution (pos not ideal) was to clean up and POR15 the metal that was left and then Cassi fibreglassed the gap once the new arch was in. Bonus is that the wing can be well rustproofed on all the inside surfaces which cant be done when you're welding new panels in.

I did weld fresh metal at the base of the inner arch.
