Neat I think. That's how I did mine at its last coolant change.

The label says "premixed" so I guess not :-)

Not sure if you can. Do you not have a local Toyota dealer?

Just buy red coolant from Halfrauds or your local motorfactor, does exactly the same thing and won't put off any buyer when you come to sell the car.

It's fine on a fwd toyota where you only need 1 5L can in most cases, but 3 cans from Mr T is in the fisting territory.

Remember, Toyota's Long Life is available both pre-mixed or as a concentrate.

Local Toyota dealer is on 10 minutes away so i will just pop up there, i think. Been quoted £52.68 for 15 litres of ForLife from Mr. T.

I've read about the Halfords stuff but i wasn't sure if it was any good? Would it not be better off with the ForLife?

Cheers for the replies gents. 8)

Any good quality Ethanol Glycol based coolant with corrosion inhibitor will suffice, there's no stipulation in both the Toyota manuals I have to use 4Life. If you're changing coolant every few years then then there shouldn't be any difference apart from the cost saving. :thumleft:

Superb guide here (ignore the bits about changing the radiator though)

Well it was excellent until the pics went AWOL  I'm sure they'll be back sometime though :)

Jay, honestly I'd have nipped down to Halfrauds in the retail park down Grahams Road. I had 2 tubs of 4-life sitting in the flat (on prev garage recommendation for my GT4 cc circuit before I read up on it), knoking on best part of £40 worth but having seen the stuff you really are paying a premium for it. LoL.

See ^^ for guide.

Just for clarity folks....

Its ethylene-glycol you want (see page 151 of the owners manual).

Theres no such thing as Ethanol Glycol but there is such a thing as Ethanol which is a form of alcohol ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol ) which you most definitely dont want to put in. Theres a specific note on the same page of the user manual NOT to use alcohol type antifreeze.

Bearing in mind how infrequently you have to change the antifreeze and the confusion amongst the types as shown in this thread I think the extra you pay to get the right stuff is well worth it IMO :-)

Correction on my behalf -Jeffs right, it's ethelene glycol I was refering to.

...last time I ordered antifreze was a 500l job lot in 20l tubs, coolant called "Bluecol" -different application totally but to get stuff so quick I had to use auto stuff and pinch all the local garages supply. That was like 5 years ago now though LoL.
