Does a 92' mk2 tubby have airbags?

Post by Burger »

I dont think so as there's no "srs" ect anywhere inside, how dangerous nowadays is it not having them.

It doesnt bother me.....or should it.

AFAIK driver's airbag was an option but you'll know if you have it because your steering wheel will be massive!! Also you'll get an airbag light in the instrument cluster when you 1st turn the ignition on.

I don't consider it that big a deal, most old cars don't have airbags and I'm not even sure your rev2 will have side impact bars which make a much bigger difference!

That's when they became standard.

That's alright, I'm in the very odd situation of having 1 side impact bar... driver's door doesn't have one, passenger door does :)

Sounds like you have a GT-S not a GT ;)

Mine doesn't have ABS either - agian you'd have a light on the dash when you turn the key on. Less options, less things to go wrong :thumleft:

I have a late rev 3 (95) and it has an airbag. Never seen an earlier car (rev 1/2) with one. Abs was standard on rev3's (although i'm sure i saw a rev 3 advertised without abs so maybe its later rev 3's) and an option on earlier cars. Same with the LSD.

I've seen rev2's with airbags - there are some in the for sale section on here! It was an option until rev4 when it became standard, and a passenger airbag became an option (although I think they were standard in some markets).

ABS was NOT standard on rev3's, it was a factory option. However the LSD was standard on rev3 turbo's (but not on N/A) as were side impact bars.
