Correct PSI for space-saver tyre?

Post by Peter C »

I've pumped mine up to 35PSI.

Thin tyre on yellow rim, by the way.

Isn't the correct pressure moulded into the side wall? Can't recall but it's much higher than that.

Thought they were something crazy like 60psi.

As said above, it should be on the side of the tyre.

I checked the sidewall, no info. The tyre is a Bridgestone.

60PSI it is then!

Cheers.

Probably not a proper MR2 spacesaver then.
AFAIK, all spacesavers for the mk2 were Yokohama's.

I had the misfortune to need mine the other Sunday but had to get the AA out as Id forgotten to put my locking wheel nut back in the car after doing some DIY - DOH! Had to get the AA out who checked the presure and put some more in - just checked it now and it says 56psi (this after driving around 60 miles so I reckon it most probably had 60psi put in it).

I dont rate them for driving on as as well as feeling a bit wierdyou can only do a max speed of 50 - I have Lexus IS200 wheels so sourced a 5th one off ebay and dumped my spacesaver in favour of a full sized wheel.

Major boohoo :-(

Lexus IS200 spare instead of spaceaver - excuse the dirty frunk and lack of plastic trim - it does all still fit was jsut doing another job

Took the opportunity to do a mini DIY refurb - went from this...

Quality job ;-')

To this - all for about £12 :-)
