I am confused? The photo you have posted is of a Sherwood Toning.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

According to the dvla it is black.

I am possibly buying the car and the owner is adamant it is a special edition black over gold.

I always thought Sherwood was green over gold.

Was black/gold an original colour?

Looks like sherwood toning to me, will probably turn out to be a very dark green rather than black on closer inspection.
