Squeek from exhaust!

Post by widster »

I fitted a Mongoose exhaust to my car a few months ago. I have been using the car a bit more recently and notice that there is a 'squeek' or 'rasp' noise that happens when revving up or down past about 4300rpm on the rev counter. I can only think it may be the exhaust resonating, a loose baffle or i even thought it could be the TVIS operating? Also, i didn't replace the mounts for the silencer when i fitted it so thought it may be because of this. It's not a particularly unpleasant noise and i could live with it but would be nice to know what it is?

Yes, looks like the Mongoose exhaust may not be that well made then as mine did it pretty much as soon as i had fitted it.

check where the exhaust hangers are mounted, its not uncommon for them to start splitting at thise points and cause a bit of a noise. Bit of welding and all was good with the last one,
