Ignition barrel.

Post by peenee »

Ive noticed my ignition barrel is sticking when i goto turn turn the key it does nt want to move but once it turns its seems fine, this only seems to happen first thing, yet once it has turned it seems fine, does anyone know what kind of job it is to replace and can i just buy the barrel or is it the whole steering column. :-k

Forgot to mention i have also used wd40 and grease to try and lube it but still no good.

give the WD40 another go mate, it happened to mine and i sprated it on the key and into the barrel two or three times (not lots just a few short squirts) itself and just kept turning the key.....i waited an hour then i repeated it again and i havent had any more bother with it :D

May I suggest you use a 3-in-1 oil rather than WD40.

WD40 provides lubrication in the short term, but concurrently washes away grease, thus in due course problems can reoccur.
