[All] [Generic] A little Problem....

Post by Sol »

Hi guys I just need some of your advise, I tryed to use the search but nothing like my problem was their ](*,) ](*,)

Ok I fitted the twin fan engine lid kit to my beloved 2. absolutly fine lovly bit of kit, On my way to work I had to put some thing in to my boot when I herd a click. I open my engine lid and found the fan kit hanging off the lid. It looks like the screws have fallen straight thou and detreaded the existing holes

What are my option's
I cant weld the kit to the lid as it is fiberglass
can i use a solvent?
Or refill the screw holes with fiberglass and use self tappers to hold it in to place?
or????

Cheers for you help guys

I had a similar problem with mine, but only on the 2 top corners, so it was not hanging off as such, just not on correctly. We use a tape at work that is almost identical to "no more nails" tape. I just put a square of tape over the hole then screwed back into it, giving the screw something to bite to. Seems to be working fine so far :thumleft:

Edit for spelling

drill out the holes slightly larger and use a blind rivit- its a bit like a pop rivit but puts a thread in place instead of the pop rivit.I will loan you the rivit gun if you are based near me - drop me a P.M. with your location if this would help.

I would bore the screw holes out with a drill, then re-tap a thread and use the correct screws for that new thread :)

no i filled the holes where the screws go to re-thread them, so as screws hold the rain tray now, just like if you would re-tap a thread on something metal done the job nicely. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:
