Air con not engageing

Post by RobCrezz »

Not sure when it last worked to be honest, havent really used it since I have had the car. Checked the 2 fuses but both are fine. The A/C light comes on, but theres no sound of it cutting it and temp doesnt change.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the belt. I had the same problem and the air con belt had snapped.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of your car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of your car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

possible are:
compressor has bought the farm
snapped belt.
system needs regassing.

take it into anywhere that does aircon servicing and they will know for sure.

Mine does the same and in my case, it needs regassing.

Yep, that's what mine did before I got it regassed at kwikfit... if it's a rev3 as your profile suggests then it's the same as any other modern car's aircon and they can regas it! In fact, the machines they use will actively refuse to regas a car that's got the old style gas in it.

Easy check - there's a sight glass in the frunk on the right hand side behind the plastic shroud. It's a cube of aluminium with a round window in the top.

If you can see fluid in there then it's just low. No fluid is probably a more serious leak somewhere, most likely the condenser rad at the front which has no protection from stones.

Inspection is covered in the BGB - there's a small metal cube near one of the valves (L I think) which is in the frunk on the right hand side, near the power steering controllers. It has a circular 'sight glass' in the top of it.
