Eibach Springs

Post by Mav122 »

Was thinking of freshning up my suspension soon. Anyone got an opinion on eibach springs? I was thinking eibach springs on Koni dampers as I know this combo works well on a few cars. Anyone have an opinion or other ideas?

I have that setup on mine, I find the Eibachs are a little soft at the front end with sloppy steering compared to stock springs. They're OK but you have to keep the Koni's on a firm setting if you fancy a blast.

I like PI springs, will be using them on my V6 and track car, they are being run on my mates SC, I've fitted them to another SC. I also sold a set to a local lad and he's happy with them.

Does anyone other than Koni and KYB do dampers for the mk1 that don't cost into the 4 figure numbers?

On the engine I meant by that. Part from an ally flywheel it's bout time that stock brakes were replaced for better ones and suspension given a seeing to :D.

Anyone tried tokico dampers? Any opinions. Just want a wide range of knowledge and opinions on the different types before parting with a lot of hard earned cash is all. :thumleft:

I'd get Koni's. You get what you pay for. Tokico are a bit budget and jap dampers of this ilk are a bit under par IMO.

Koni themselves list mr2 a and b dampers for the rear on their site as do fensport. fensport also list front ones but don't mention year so i assume they fit both

As far as I was aware Koni only do the shocks for the Mk1b. I bought a kit for my Mka and they didn't fit, so I changed to Mk1b rear struts and they fit fine now :thumleft:

If you want Konis why not buy my spare car, you will have to drill some holes for the top mounts but with a spare car you will have all the bits.

It would work out (nearly) cheaper than buying the Koni kit and you get a free car for spares :thumleft:

I had a set for a MK1a on my MK1a funnily enough. I swopped my used set from a mK1b for the MK1a ones, so they weren't bought recently as such, unless Koni have stopped making the MK1a ones? IIRC it's only the rears that are different.
