[Mk2] [Turbo] What turbo do you run?

Post by mr2nut123 »

Trying to get some advice from people running upwards of 350bhp on which turbo to go for. Ideally i'd like one that can be externally gated but if theres a big difference would consider others.

I'm guessing that you should get a turbo thats rated quite a big higher than your power goal (i.e. 400bhp turbo for 350bhp etc.) for every day reliability.

I'd recommend the GT30 series all day long. Ive got the GT3076r. Cracking turbo. Good spool and great power. :thumleft:

That looks great, scream pipe too! =P~

How much are they...dare I ask? Also, it claims up to 30psi no problem, wouldn't that be a bit overkill for 350bhp and slow as spooling up? :-k

There not on sale as yet but will be within the next couple of months.
I and a couple of others were picked to be the UK testers so i will keep everyone updated with what happens, dyno sheets etc.

For prices the best man to ask is Baktash at EMSPowered.

Here's abit more about it...

As you can see you will be able to pick turbo trim size depending on what power and spool rate you want.

Thats a great link, cheers! Looks like the TD06 and T3/T4 kits are the popular ones then. How much do these go for then? Recommended sites?

I've noticed that those kits are only rated for around 350bhp, is this right? I was planning on going for a circa 500hp rated turbo and running it on low boost as I want 100% (or as near as I can get) so dont want to be stressing everything fully.
