[Mk2] [Turbo] Handbrake woes

Post by dave_f »

Hi guys

Ok my handbrake has officially been crap over the summer so i decided i would adjust it today, got under the car and adjusted the handbrake ok along the threaded bar. However i went to far and it is still on when fully released. As it was freeeeezing outside i couldnt be bothered to adjust it back.

I gave it a quick drive along my drive as it was only on a little bit.

It felt like the handbrake was very tight and hard to lift even when it was set up like this and didnt seem to grip very well at all when i pulled the handbrake on.

I havnt checked the pads on the rear yet.

Is it just that it was because i adjusted it too far that it was like this or do you think anything else is amiss, ie, the pads, cables knackered etc.

Cheers

Car isnt being used btw!

Could be frozen on I guess but there comes a point with the MK2s where it's better to just replace the cables, it's cheap and easy.
